A Sculpture with a Story in Tollesbury

Have you spotted the wonderful new sculpture at the Community Orchard in Tollesbury at West Street Cemetery?

Created by Simon Earney, Lifuefactio Cordis (Melting Heart) has been made using recycled metal sourced from around Tollesbury – including an old railway chair spike from the Crab and Winkle Railway, Victorian fencing from East Street and angled iron from Garlands Farm.

Installed in spring 2025, the sculpture celebrates our connection with nature, our local history, and too our community.

The beautiful celebration plaques around the sculpture also provide an opportunity for people to remember and celebrate loved ones while helping to support the Community Orchard.

“May this tree inspire connection, reflection, and appreciation for the beauty of nature and community.”

A lovely example of how local history, art, and our community can come together to create something truly special.

Please note – do not climb on the sculpture.
