A Sculpture with a Story in Tollesbury

Have you discovered the wonderful new sculpture at the Community Orchard in Tollesbury, located at West Street Cemetery?

Created by local artist Simon Earney, Liquefactio cordis (Melting Heart) has been crafted from recycled metal gathered from around Tollesbury including an old railway chair spike from the Crab and Winkle Railway, Victorian fencing from East Street, and angled iron from Garlands Farm.

Installed in spring 2025, the sculpture celebrates our connection to nature, our local heritage, and our community.

The beautiful celebration plaques surrounding the sculpture also offer a special opportunity for people to remember and celebrate loved ones, while helping to support the Community Orchard, planted and cared for by the Tollesbury Climate Partnership.

A wonderful example of how local history, creativity, nature, and community can come together to create something truly meaningful and special.
