Masonic Hall
The Masonic Hall on East Street has served Tollesbury in more than one guise. It was built as the village girls' school – a plain but handsome schoolroom where generations of local children were taught. Today it belongs to the Tollesbury Freemasons: the Tollesbury Lodge, founded in 1925 with a membership drawn largely from the village's seafarers.
For 2026 it joins the Arts Trail for the very first time. There's something fitting in that – a building raised for learning and community, opening its doors to visitors once again, this time to meet the artists showing their work inside. Do step in to see both the hall itself and the art it's holding this year.

Do you love taking snaps, holiday photos, or daft pictures of your cat? Maybe you enjoy walking the sea wall to capture an amazing landscape, or perhaps your thing is portraits, abstract art, or beautiful florals. If so, Tollesbury Photographic Group is for you!
We are a friendly bunch who meet once a month to take, share, and enjoy photos right here in the village. In the darker months, we practice fun indoor subjects in the Parish Rooms. When the evenings are lighter, we head out to photograph local events and our wonderful Essex scenery.
Come and see us at the Arts Trail in the Masonic Lodge! We will be displaying some of our favourite work, showcasing our 'Old Tollesbury Now' project, sharing Essex and Spanish shots from the recent total eclipse, and sharing details on how you can join us.
Tollesbury Archive
Heritage
Tollesbury Archive exists to honour the wishes of Cedric Gurton and keep alive Tollesbury's rich pictorial history – the plough and sail village, and the home of the Kelvedon, Tiptree & Tollesbury Light Railway.
Community-led, the Archive encourages villagers to provide content for its social media platforms and website. At the Arts Trail, visitors can see examples of its heritage photos, postcards and documents, and can take part in the Tollesbury Railway walk from station to station.
