Every good wander needs a proper pause, and the King's Head is it. The last of the village's old pubs still pulling pints, it sits right on the Square – the natural heart of the trail and the perfect spot to put your feet up halfway round.
So pop in. Order a pint or something softer, sink into a corner, and let the afternoon slow right down. There's poetry to sit back and listen to, friendly faces to natter with, and absolutely nowhere you need to be. Whether you've walked the whole trail or you're only just setting off, this is where Tollesbury catches its breath.

Stephen Dennis is the founder of The Atrocious School of Poetry, whose mission is to declaim Atrocious Poetry to hostile and unwilling audiences wherever they may be found.
As part of the School's Atrocious Diversity (S.A.D.) policy, it has diversified into a private health care initiative, operating an Emergency Poetry Clinic where poetry can be applied where it hurts, at the point of need. Stephen is delighted to have been invited to participate in the 2nd Tollesbury Arts Trail and plans a break from his gruelling touring schedule and obsessive doom-scrolling to attend.
You'll find him in the King's Head pub garden with the pop-up Emergency Poetry Clinic. Appointments are not always necessary, and it's definitely not to be missed.
